Troll teaches Chiro Marketing

Superfan Michael writes in:

“Jeff, are you really that illiterate, or did you outsource the writing of that drivel to someone who speaks English as their third language?  Why would anyone take speaking advice from someone who cannot write???”

I had several thoughts when I read this.

First, “English as a THIRD language” made me laugh out loud.

Secondly, I’m doing something right.

I’ve written about this before.

Your job as a marketer, and make no mistake, writing emails is all about marketing, is to polarize your market.

Indifference makes you meaningless.

Re-read that above.

You want to create fans (like Little Monsters for Lady Gaga)… and troll haters (like Micheal). I mean the guy actually took the time out of his day to write a hateful email. Do you think he has “big things” happening in his life? Stuff like this sifts the wheat from the shaft.

My experience is people that sweat the small stuff like this are a royal pain in the arse as clients as well.

But… they’re great for making money off of… because I just turn around and use his email as email fodder for my email, that creates more sales.

Don’t get me wrong, you don’t want to go out of your way to be a jerk or off-putting, but if you’re not ruffling a few feather along the way, you aren’t stepping out enough.

You need to be YOU with all your quirks, flaws and imperfections.

By the way, on the same day, I had positive replies and the most important, business inquiries.
